Graduation Requirements

The program opens the door for anyone who cares about financial education to make a real impact. With flexible learning, clear milestones, and professional recognition, you’ll build skills – and confidence – every step of the way.

  • Prerequisites & Technical Requirements
You don’t need any background in finance or teaching to get started. Learners ages 13 and up are welcome and simply need a computer, internet access, and audio capability. Everything else – guidance, instruction, and support – is built into the experience.

  • No Prior Experience Needed
Bring your enthusiasm for teaching personal finance, and the course will supply the rest. You’ll gain the knowledge, tools, and encouragement to grow into a capable, confident educator.

  • Self Paced Learning
Move through the pilot program at your own rhythm. While early estimates suggest around 80 hours of instruction, your actual time may differ. Your participation helps shape the final structure of the course, including the official hour count.

  • Online Delivery
Learn entirely online through videos, activities, workbooks, and guided lessons. Want a little extra connection? Optional live Friday sessions offer space for questions, support, and community.

  • Final Exam & Knowledge Checks
To complete the program, you’ll need to score 80% or higher on both the final exam and all chapter knowledge checks. If you need another try, retakes and instructional support are available to help you succeed.

  • Accessibility & Accommodations
Learners with documented accessibility needs can request reasonable accommodations. Reaching out early ensures that the right support is in place for a smooth learning experience.

  • Certification & Recognition
Finish the program and earn the official CFEI® certification logo along with your CEU letter. To keep your credential active, you’ll complete a brief exam or verify your teaching practice every three years.

  • Renewal
Every three years, maintain your certification through a short exam or by confirming your ongoing teaching practice.

The NFEC conducts surveys throughout the course to gauge the impact of the training and track participant progress. Standards for Financial Educators in the MENA Region

The NFEC created the Framework for Teaching Personal Finance, the region’s first – and still only – set of professional standards designed specifically for financial education instructors. These standards outline concrete expectations that help educators strengthen their instruction and guide learners toward real world financial capability.

Developed with the Danielson Group and aligned to InTASC principles, the Framework translates Charlotte Danielson’s model into a structure tailored for financial literacy education. Rooted in constructivist learning, it identifies 22 research supported components that describe the knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors educators are expected to demonstrate. These components map out effective instructional practices, link them to measurable learner outcomes, and support ongoing professional growth.

Danielson’s broader Framework for Teaching is widely recognized across the education field, backed by extensive research, and trusted by teachers, administrators, policymakers, and scholars. It defines the competencies associated with high quality teaching and the performance levels that distinguish educator proficiency. More than 20 U.S. states have formally adopted the Danielson model, making it the most widely implemented teaching framework in the United States and well-respected worldwide.

Financial education is becoming increasingly important across the MENA region, particularly in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, where rapid economic growth, expanding financial sectors, and ambitious national development agendas are reshaping how people manage money. As residents gain greater access to digital banking, investment products, credit, and entrepreneurship opportunities, the need for practical financial literacy skills continues to grow. Financial education helps individuals and families better understand budgeting, debt management, saving, retirement planning, and wealth-building strategies in increasingly sophisticated financial environments. Employers and institutions across the Gulf region are also recognizing that stronger financial wellness contributes to improved productivity, lower stress, and more financially resilient communities.

In Israel and Egypt, financial education is equally important as households navigate changing economic conditions, rising living costs, and expanding access to financial services. In Israel, a highly innovative economy and advanced financial system make financial literacy essential for informed decision-making around investments, mortgages, and long-term planning. In Egypt, growing financial inclusion, digital payments, and entrepreneurship are increasing demand for practical financial knowledge to help individuals manage household finances and build financial stability. Across the MENA region, financial literacy is becoming a key component of economic empowerment and long-term financial well-being.

As awareness of financial wellness expands throughout the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Egypt, there is a growing need for qualified financial wellness instructors who can deliver practical, culturally relevant education. Businesses, schools, nonprofits, and government initiatives increasingly require trained professionals to lead workshops and programs focused on budgeting, debt reduction, saving, investing, and financial resilience. Qualified financial wellness instructors play an important role in helping individuals build confidence in managing money, while supporting broader goals of financial inclusion, workforce productivity, and sustainable economic development across the region.
